Original French patriotic poster illustrated by Abel Faivre, produced as part of the national fundraising campaigns at the end of the First World War.
This financial propaganda poster encourages the French population to participate in the Liberation Loan, intended to support the war effort and finance the victory against Germany in 1918.
In this striking depiction, Allied flags dominate Kaiser Wilhelm II as he kneels, his sword broken with the German spiked helmet.
A powerful iconography symbolizing enemy defeat and Allied unity.
Abel Faivre (1867-1945), a renowned illustrator and caricaturist, was one of the great artists of French patriotic posters during the Great War. His works were widely distributed for national bond campaigns.
The printing was done by the Lapina and Crété printing houses, two major Parisian workshops in the production of illustrated posters at the beginning of the 20th century.
