Superb fireman's sword, model 1855, emblematic of the municipal companies of the Second Empire.
Used both as a ceremonial weapon and a prestige tool, this sword is recognizable by its 26-grooved brass handle and its wide, straight, double-glazed blade.
Markings:
Klingenthal on one side of the blade.
Coulaux A & C on the other, renowned manufacturer from Solingen & Klingenthal.
Type: Firefighter's sword.
Model: 1855
Blade: straight, double fuller.
Blade length: 51.5 cm.
Total length: 63.5 cm.
Handle: solid brass, 26 grooves.
Period: Second Empire (~1855–1870).
Missing blade guard, leaving a small gap between the blade and the guard.
