This superb Model 1831 infantry sword embodies the spirit of the 19th-century French soldier. This is a particularly interesting example, made by JEAN, with its original scabbard bearing the corresponding serial number, making it a rare and authentic collector's item.

Blade: 49 cm, straight, wide, double-edged.
Handle: brass with 26 grooves.
Scabbard: in black leather with brass chape and locket, same number as the sword.

Adopted under the July Monarchy and used until the Third Republic, the 1831 model sword is the traditional weapon of the French infantry.
