German model KS98 bayonet (Kurzes Seitengewehr 98) with saw teeth, manufactured in Solingen-Foche by Gottlieb Hammesfahr and dated 1916, in the midst of the First World War.

The city of Solingen, the historical center of German cutlery, was home to many military manufacturers, including Gottlieb Hammesfahr, known for the quality of his products.

The back of the blade bears the imperial crown marking / W / 16, corresponding to a reception during the reign of William II. (Wilhelm II).

This bayonet model was intended for specialized troops of the Imperial German Army (machine gunners, pioneers, signals) equipped with the Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle.
