This Gras 1866/74 rifle is a major historical piece of French weaponry. Derived from the transformation of the famous Chassepot model 1866 rifle, it was modified to accommodate an 11×59 mm metallic black powder cartridge, meeting the requirements of the modern battlefield after the defeat of 1870. An emblematic transitional weapon, between tradition and innovation.

Model: Gras 1866/74 (regulatory transformation of the Chassepot 1866).
Caliber: 11 mm Gras (11×59R).
System: straight pull bolt, rotating bolt head.
Barrel: octagonal then round, original graduated sight.
