The "Orphans of the Legion of Honour" medal was minted by the Paris mint in 1810.
It was created to honor the orphans of knights of the Legion of Honour, a symbolic attribute combining recognition and remembrance.
It was designed by the engraver Jean-Bertrand Andrieu (1761-1822), with the artistic imprint of Dominique-Vivant Denon (1747-1825), key figures in the French medalist of the time.
