A rare military roadmap dated 1813, from the height of the Napoleonic Wars. This handwritten document served as a logistical record for the movement of a soldier or troop detachment. It is an authentic administrative document illustrating the workings of the Imperial Army under Napoleon I.

Period: First Empire, Napoleon I.
Date: 1813.
Format: Folded handwritten sheet.
Support: Period paper, writing in ink.
Contents: Name of the soldier, milestones, signatures or official stamps.

On letterhead bearing the imperial eagle:

"FRENCH EMPIRE PORT OF NANTES 4th Maritime District" Done at Nantes on April 17, 1813.

Authentic roadmap of Mr. Eugène ARNOUD, deputy chief of the 4th forestry district of the Navy.

Modern frame: 45x31 cm.

Good condition for its age – some creases and wear consistent with its use.

The year 1813 marked the period of the Sixth Coalition, following the disastrous Russian campaign. The French army reorganized its forces at breakneck speed. This type of document allowed soldiers and officers to move about legally, specifying their lodging locations and permitted time limits.

Rare and original piece from the imperial administration.

Ideal for enriching a Napoleonic collection.
