Authentic Lebel 1886/15 sword bayonet, manufactured new.This version was produced directly without a quillon from the implementation of manufacturing simplifications in 1915, to meet the enormous needs of the French army during the Great War.
The bayonet bears a clear serial number: M 96407 stamped on the guard. The letter M is typical of wartime production.
Period scabbard with the marking SC (civilian wartime subcontractor) on the chape's stud, as well as other control marks (including 1 93).
The scabbard is not matching (different numbers), which is extremely common on used pieces. However, it remains an authentic Great War scabbard.
The cruciform blade (cross-section). Brass handle typical of war production.

Adopted during the Great War, the Rosalie became the symbol of the French bayonet.Hundreds of thousands of copies were produced, often by national manufacturers (Châtellerault, Saint-Étienne, etc.) and by private subcontractors (such as SG, S.C., etc.) to meet the massive needs of the army.
