This commemorative medal, struck in 1840 during the reign of Louis-Philippe I, pays homage to Napoleon I and his last place of residence, the island of Saint Helena.
It is dedicated to the memory of the deposed Emperor, who was exiled and died on this island on May 5, 1821.
