Authentic infantry lighter saber, an emblematic model of the French army in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This type of saber is particularly associated with soldiers of the Revolution, the First Empire, and the Restoration.

Its name comes from the characteristic shape of the brass handle, reminiscent of a flint lighter.
Used in addition to the rifle, it was for a long time a symbol of bravery among French troops.

Model: Infantry lighter saber.
Total length: 74.5 cm.
Blade: Curved, flat back, single edge, 62 cm.
Handle: One-piece brass, with 28 grooves.
Guard: Brass side connection (classic "D" shape).

Condition: Beautiful old patina, period wear.

The lighter saber was used by French soldiers from the French Revolution onwards and throughout the Napoleonic era. It was standardized under the An IX and then An XI models, and remained in service under the Restoration. It was used for both close combat and ceremonial purposes.

Visual symbol of the soldiers of the Empire.

Highly sought-after model in Napoleonic militaria circles.

Excellent piece for displays, reenactments and historical showcases.
